Savvy Tools To Work From Anywhere #quarantine or #beach

If you are looking to work from home, or under current Covid social distancing restrictions, setting yourself up right is essential to maximise your productivity.

Here are some of the best tools to get you rocking your work from anywhere in the world, front room quarantine 🏠 or beachside cafe 🌴☕️

WEBSITE

Get rid of the middle ‘man’ and take control of your business website with some of the easiest CMS, content management systems, out there.

Shopify:

The all-in-one E-commerce platform. Everything included from hosting, software, an excellent 24/7 back up, and updates. Thousands of templates, easy to use drag and drop interface, plus an integrated payment solution accepting all major bank cards and PayPal. There isn’t much else out there that suits both the established business and a new start-up.

WordPress.org:

With 35% of all the internet’s websites powered by Word Press, it is considered to be the best website building platform in the world. With its endless plugins, it pretty much covers everything you would ever want to do with your website; online courses, membership sites, auction sites, a marketplace or e-commerce. Hop onto BLUEHOST or SITEGROUND (as recommended by WP) to set up your web hosting and you're good to go.

Squarespace:

King of design (so perfect for the creative entrepreneur) and cheaper entry-level monthly costs.

👉🏼 Hot Tip: If you’re a start-up business and looking for some bespoke website design, or simply want some trusted advice, take a look at http://edenwebdesign.com

EMAIL

It's essential to be able to collect the contact details of your clients, and prospects, so you can stay in touch, promote, and provide updates about your services. CONSTANT CONTACT, SENDINBLUE (fastest EU growing platform) and MAILCHIMP are great platforms for both small to medium-size businesses.

SOCIALS

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the number of social media platforms out there. However, not every platform is relevant to your market.

👉🏼 Hot Tip: Basic business rule, know your ideal audience and where they hang out.

Then you can narrow down the platforms that will actually work for you, your customer, and your business. Ensure you have the App on your phone as well so you can be responsive even if you don't have your laptop with you. There is huge scope, however here are the ones we use regularly.

CONTENT CREATION

Canva:

Fantastic graphic design platform that allows users to create social media graphics, presentations, posters and other visual content. It is available on web and mobile and integrates millions of images, fonts, templates and illustrations.

Lightroom:

The essential tool for organising, editing, and sharing your photography.

Unsplash:

Beautiful, free images gifted by the world’s most generous community of photographers.

Inspired Stock Shop:

An affordable stock photographic membership site for creatives and designers. Motivational quotes with beautiful images. If you’re in the Wellness industry and want more than Unsplash then try here.

Giphy Cam:

Lets users create their own gifs to send by text or share on social media.

Repost:

Quick and easy to use, it helps you share other people's IG posts.

Schedulers:

Plenty of free versions out there with upgrades to get your social content organised. Entry-level, easy to use; BUFFER, LATER, PLANOLY, or our favourite PREVIEW. Graduate to HOOTSUITE if you are managing multiple social media platforms.

VIRTUAL MEETINGS

Hold online meetings and stay visually connected with video conferencing with ZOOM, GOOGLE HANGOUTS, FACE TIME and SKYPE.

COMMUNICATION

If you want to connect in quick with someone try the messaging app SLACK. Designed to replace email as your primary method of communication and sharing. Its workspaces allow you to organise communications by channels for group discussions and allows for private messages to share information, files, and more all in one place.

FILE SHARING

GOOGLE DRIVE and WE TRANSFER (for images, videos etc) are our favourites.

TIME MANAGEMENT

It’s easy to get hooked into so much attention-grabbing stuff online so why not try STRICT WORKFLOW. You can time block, schedule rests and block websites that distract you 😄

Lastly, if you like list-making, and want to outline your daily ‘To Do’s’ then try EVERNOTE, desktop or mobile, a virtual notebook that you can tick off your wins as you complete them 😄

This is by no way a definitive list. It’s just what we have used and found to work for us. At the end of the day, every business is different and you definitely have to allow for some trial and error, before you hit on the perfect match that works for you and your growing business.
