How Do YOU Normally Start YOUR Day?
Overdosed on social media before you hit the shower?
Frazzled getting out the door?
Or just plain rushed?
IS THIS YOU?
Ok, so you may have read the hype about why its so important to start the day RIGHT, but what does RIGHT look like?
What’s right for one person may be different for another, however for me STARTING THE DAY RIGHT has been a gradual shift in lifestyle, a bit like starting a new hobby, and some days still START BETTER than others.
😊
There is a lot of stuff out there explaining why its important to start your day off well, however, one of the most inspiring examples I’ve come across is by US Navy Admiral William H. McRaven.
In 2014 he was invited to speak at a graduation ceremony by the University of Texas. He shares some of his Navy Seal experience to demonstrate how starting your day off right, can not only influence how the rest of your day goes, but also the rest of your life.
💯
“Why should you make your bed?” he asks the graduates.
“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day.
It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another.
By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed"
This is one of my favourite bits:
Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that:
LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE MATTER
If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right.
Motivational stuff and really puts my mornings in perspective compared to many others people’s mornings, who incidentally, may not even have a bed.
So even if you can’t make time for any other self care morning habits, making your bed is one quick thing you can do. An easy practise that helps set a do good tone for the rest of your day.
